Affymetrix Expression Microarrays
GeneChip expression microarrays enable researchers to simultaneously monitor genome-wide expression profiles. This global view of expression aids in the understanding of the biological mechanisms of complex diseases, and can lead to the identification of new drug targets in ways never before possible.
The Core Facility offers the Affymetrix GeneChip platform to carry out expression studies. There are different types of expression arrays which interrogate transcripts at various levels:
- Standard Arrays: 3′ interrogation
- WT Arrays: Whole transcript interrogation (Exon and Gene Arrays)

Exon arrays utilize approximately 40 probes per genes. Gene arrays utilize approximately 26 probes across the length of the gene. |
