Many applications, including those not handled by our Core, require the assessment of RNA quality. The Facility operates a Biorad Experion automated electrophoresis system for determining RNA quality and offers this analysis as a stand-alone, modestly priced service.
The Experion system offers 2 types of RNA chips, a StdSens for analysis of samples in the 5-500 ng/microliter range, and a HighSens chip for samples in the 100-5,000 pg/microliter range. The GEGF stocks the StdSens chips. However, for some applications, the HighSens chip may be required. If you need to utilize the HighSens chip, please contact the GEGF for assistance.
RNA quality determination is also available as an optional part of the Affymetrix Microarrays service.
