Equipment in our Facility includes state-of-the-art liquid handling systems, as well as modern devices for carrying out expression and genotyping studies. We are always striving to keep our equipment up to date and make upgrades with advances in technology.
The Gene Titan is a high-throughput microarray all-in-one system, with fluidics and scanner built in. It is capable of processing Peg arrays in 16, 24 and 96 formats, for both expression and genotyping applications.
Gene Scanner 3000
The 3000 scanner is the latest technology scanner for scanning microarrays. The scanner houses a carousel that allows for storage of multiple arrays for more efficient and hands free scanning.
The Facility houses 3 fluidics stations which wash hybridized cartridge arrays. Each station can process 4 arrays, allowing us to process 24 arrays in one day.
PCR and Real Time Analysis
Fluidigm’s revolutionary Integrated Fluidic Circuits (IFCs) empower life science research by automating PCR reactions in nanoliter volumes. The Biomark is capable of running either 48X48 or 96X96 (genes X samples) IFCs in either real-time or end-point read modes and can be used with either TaqMan or Sybr reagents.
The ABI 7900 real time machine is used for Taqman as well as Sybr based applications. We have the capacity to run 96 and 384 well plates, as well as microfluidics cards. The Twister robot allows for automated plate loading and unloading for high-throughput runs.
ABI 9700 PCR Clycler
The Facility has 5 9700 cyclers, with the capacity to do 96 or 384 well plates.
The Tetrad has 4 96-well heads for high-throughput PCR applications.
Nucleic Acid Evaluation
The Nanodrop UV/VIS spectrometer and is ideally suited to measure concentrations of small quantities of samples, requiring only 1.5ul to obtain a measurement.
Multiscan Plate Reader
Our UV/VIS plate reader allows for high-throughput concentration measurements.
The Qubit is a fluorometric-based spectrophotometer that is essential for many applications that require precise nucleic acid quantitations, such as library preparations for NextGen sequencing. It uses as little as 1ul of sample.
The new Agilent 2200 TapeStation system offers scalable throughput and rapid results, making it an ideal solution for quality control of biological samples in next-generation sequencing (NGS), microrarray and qPCR workflows. Only 1 ul needed for RNA analysis and 2ul for DNA analysis.
The innovative C1 system carefully isolates single cells into individual reaction chambers (either 96 or 800) in the exclusive Fluidigm Integrated Fluidic Circuit (IFC). The C1 isolates RNA or DNA for downstream analysis. Tot RNA applications include RNASeq and RT-PCR on the Biomark.
The Biomek FX liquid handling system is programmed to integrate with the GeneTitanfor precision fully automated liquid handling. The multideck station includes a PCR machine and shaking and cooling peltiers.
The Matrix PlateMate plus is routinely used for high-throughput plating of genotyping assays, as well as for reformatting DNA from 96 well to 384 well plates.
This versatile 2X2 platform allows for customized liquid handling applications, such as high-throughput PCR applications.
