Real Time PCR Service Details
As part of this service, totRNA is converted to cDNA, then plated with the desired genes of interest for the realtime run. Users may also plate the reactions themselves and utilize our equipment to execute the run.
We routinely strive to process samples and provide data within 2 weeks. If we have a large backlog, we will notify you of a delay. If you require data faster, please let us know, and we will do our best to process your samples right away.
Optional features include:
Analysis of RNA on the Agilent Tape Station prior to processing.
Endogenous control determination. We offer a standard list of genes from which to choose.
Detailed data analysis post data collection, including CT and fold-change analysis.
Users need to register their samples through iLab. Please go to the Customer Portal and make your request.
Sample delivery criteria differ based on the technology used.
Samples may be brought as RNA or cDNA. RNA samples must be free of inhibitors of PCR and reverse transcription. Ideally, the concentration should be between 0.02 and 0.2 ug/ul in DEPC or RNase-free water, and samples should be 75ul or greater.
However, high quality results can be obtained with less material. Unless you are using samples for an Endogenous Control Determination, it is not necessary to know the exact concentration of your samples. RNA should be delivered in 0.5 ml microfuge tubes with the sample number on the top of the tube.

The Facility will NOT quantitate your samples or measure the volume. We assume that samples will be delivered according to the criteria above. If they are not, we cannot guarantee that the assays will work.
If your samples cannot meet these criteria, please contact Vai Pathak to discuss how to deliver your samples.
Applied Biosystems offers more than 750,000 standard TaqMan® Gene Expression Assays, from 8 species, including: human, rat, mouse, dog, Rhesus, Arabidopsis, Drosophila and C. elegans. Users can search Applied Biosystems' website for their assay(s) of interest. If your gene of interest is not available, ABI does offer a customizable assay service. For assistance with ordering customized assays, please contact Debora Poruban or Martina Veigl.
